Kaleido

Kawasaki Heavy Industries

A life-size humanoid robot that Kawasaki Heavy Industries has been researching and developing since 2015; the latest is the 9th generation, Kaleido9 (RHP Kaleido 9). It is characterized by robustness that keeps it from breaking easily even when it falls, and Kaleido9 supports autonomous walking using LiDAR-based self-localization (SLAM) as well as remote operation using a head-mounted display. Its strength is that it can use facilities, tools and stairs designed for people as they are, and disaster sites are envisioned as its ultimate field of application.

  • Disaster response (rescue work via remote operation)
  • Simple tasks such as transport and patrols in factories and plants (envisioned around 2030)
  • Communication support in medical and nursing care (envisioned around 2030)
